Stu Bird, long time Rotarian enjoying retirement Sharing his trekking experience to Everest Base Camp, Nepal
Stu has been a member of our Rotary club since 1977 and has contributed so much to the club over the years. Stu is a mechanical engineer from UBC, retired from General Equipment Limited where he was the owner, President, and CEO. He recently went on a dream trip - trekking to the Everest Base Camp. So many people have asked Stu to tell of his recent trip to Nepal so he's agreed to share his experience with us all. You are invited to come out and hear it for yourself. Kindly RSVP your intention to attend. We're hoping to once again host a full room as we did for our December meetings.

Special announcements and Members' Moments:
Wolfgang Degemann was presented with a Honorary Membership certificate. Well deserved Wolfgang.
John Hayto is busy planning the 2023 club ski weekend. Dates are Feb. 11-13, 2023. He is looking for anyone who is willing to host attendees by providing a place to stay. If you can help kindly let John know.
Kendall Jessiman is planning, with Phil Webber, a learn to curl event in January. They are busy securing a venue and once done will announce the date. The event will be able to accommodate 16-24 attendees.
Joan Posivy asked everyone to save the date -- Feb. 7th for a joint Rotaract/Rotary meeting. It will be an evening meeting held at the community centre in the Olympic Village area.
Joan Posivy also brought our attention to her podcast, joanposivy.com, where she has interviews with one of our recent speakers, Patrick 'Crazy P' Thomas, the BC Lions superfan and champion of community spirit, as well as her interview with Santa, keeping with the season.
Brittany Ford let us know that the recent socials, refreshments at Reflections and the family skate were both successful and a lot of fun. There are more events in the planning so stay tuned. Tom Crean chatted about the fact that after no Christmas/holiday events in 2020 nor 2021, this is the 10th one he's attended this year so far, including one at the Vancouver Golf & Country club where he played with Miya Otake. It seems things are getting back to normal.
