How will the new Proof of Vaccination guidelines affect our club?
Our priority is ensuring all of our members can be comfortable meeting in as safe an environment as we can possibly provide. To that end at our in-person weekly club meeting, we have worked with the Terminal City Club, adhering to guidelines of having sanitary stations available, disposable gloves for handling the serving utensils, and an attempt to limit the number of people gathering at the buffet tables. Also the tables are spread out and the place settings at each have been reduced to six.
As everyone is aware the government has instituted a proof of vaccination protocol. Exactly how this will affect us, we are unsure of at the time of this writing. The Terminal City Club will determine what their protocols will be and how they will be enforced given we enjoy a meal together. Until then, it is our understanding that we can carry on as we have been.
We will keep you posted as we gather more information.
On Friday September 17th Vancouverites will become superheroes by rappelling down the Guinness Tower. One of our own, Parisa Adrangi, will be one of those superheroes. They are all raising funds for Easter Seals. The fundraising will support two essential services that Easter Seals BC/Yukon provides: Easter Seals House and Easter Seals Camp.
Easter Seals House in Vancouver provides a low cost, caring place to stay for more than 100 parents and children every night. Our camp offers once-in-a-lifetime, week-long, fully accessible camping experiences for individuals living with disabilities, every summer.
Nadja Gehriger, Secretary, hosted the meeting in-person & via ZOOM

Gerry Glazier:Volunteers needed! There will be a RWH container loading on September 18th. The container is heading to Montevideo, Uruguay. Our club sponsored the costs for this container. Though due to covid there is still a restriction on volunteers, there is opportunity for 6 of our members to help. It’s a great opportunity to get to know other Rotarians and supporters of RWH, just ask our regulars, Kaz, Gerry, and now Mekdes. Let Carolyn know if you are interested, it’s a first come, first serve opportunity.
Program:
President, Wayne Fraser:
Our club has an incredibly rich history, in 2021 celebrating its 108th birthday. To mark the club’s centennial, past president Mary Laing was instrumental in putting together a celebration held down on the plaza around the Olympic flames at the waterfront. In addition, she with the support of many ensured we have a historic record with a video highlighting the wonderful successes of the club and of other clubs around the province for which our club was instrumental in starting.
The video is a bit long for us to show today at 45 minutes, but here are a few clips I want to share with you.
It is obvious that the hard work and innovative ideas of our members, some still present, many gone, is the reason we are such a rich club on all fronts – financially of course, but also in the support we provide to our communities both locally and beyond, not to mention the personalities that come together in our membership all in the name of service.
How do we continue to build on the rich history moving forward is a question that every President, every Board asks. We have developed a strategic plan that will, hopefully, keep us on the right track. I want to bring to your attention a few areas from our current strategic plan to help guide us moving forward.
