Unfortunately, Drew has had to cancel his visit with us on Tuesday due to personal circumstances. His visit will be rescheduled as soon as it can be.
So, Franco will be providing our members with an update on how our club is doing in terms of our goals and what the plans are going forward. Let's keep working on capturing the magic of Rotary in making our world a better one.
If no written objection is filed with the Secretary within 7 days of October 4, 2024, (by Oct. 11, 2024), Graham Fox, will upon payment of the dues and assessments determined by the Board, be declared elected as a member of the Rotary Club of Vancouver recognized by Rotary International.

President Franco Gallo turned 40 years old on September 29 and celebrated with his friends and family and huge pot of home made paella!
Rotarian Tamlyn Mafika returned from a month long vacation to Montego Bay, Jamaica, where she got to visit the local Rotary Club.
Kudos were given to Mindy and her Mingles - members are wholeheartedly enjoying this recently new, monthly evening event!

Part Two: Vancouver's Drug Crisis: Insights from the Downtown Eastside
We continued to dive deep into Vancouver's drug crisis with firsthand insights from experts who have spent decades in the heart of Downtown Eastside. This week we hosted part two of a powerful discussion on Vancouver's drug crisis, focusing on the real challenges faced by the Downtown Eastside community.
Thank you to the experts who have dedicated their careers to addressing substance abuse and enhancing community safety, and thanks to them for presenting to our local Rotarians and their guests:

Key Topics covered were:
Current realities in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, changes between 2006 and 2024, particularly in the areas of youth abuse, violence, the evolution of drugs and the overall health of the population.
The speakers also helped us understand different drug categories and how addiction develops and spoke about the main reasons why people use: peer pressure, family abuse or trauma and genetics.

The club was approached to send a picture of our membership to the RC Orlando.
This picture, among other Clubs' pictures, will literally be sent to the moon in mid 2025; by a SpaceX Falcon Heavy Rocket, which will lift off from Cape Canaveral, FL, USA.
Members were invited to be part of the picture of our club calling for peace.
