Program: Mark Busse introduced this week's speaker, Sue Biely, Executive Producer of Good Pitch.
Sue started by recognizing the work that Rotary does and is a big fan. The Rotary tribe is all about improving the world. This is also true of Good Pitch.
Good Pitch bring together documentary filmmakers with foundations, NGOs, campaigners, philanthropists, policymakers, brands and media around leading social and environmental issues to forge coalitions and impact campaigns that are good for all these partners, good for the films and good for society.
Why films? Film events and subsequent discussions bring people together. They combine art and journalism, use stories and narratives, to reach hearts as well as minds.
After a six-month development process, filmmakers make a pitch to the audience on event day. The event is moderated and hosts a strategically chosen group of approximately 200 potential partners who can offer support and funding to magnify the impact of each documentary project.
Since 2008, more than 4800 organizations have heard about new film projects at a Good Pitch. The type of support provided varies in scope and value, including: in-kind or pro-bono services, introductions and network building, money, publicity or marketing resources, screening supporters, access to members or mailing lists, early influencers to help amplify the film's reach.
What does Good Pitch need to support & promote their films? Program funding, travel partners & air miles contributions, catering & hospitality, printing & materials, introductions to networks. Most importantly we need to grow the table. If you are interested please come out.
