In Loving Memory
A Dedicated Rotarian Gone Too Soon

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our fellow Rotarian, Verona Edelstein. As a dedicated member and passionate supporter of Rotary’s mission, Verona made a lasting impact through their service, leadership, and friendship.

Verona was a true diplomat, using her expertise to navigate the complexities of international service and secure global grants. Though she never sought credit, her impact was profound.
During her career, she served in London/England; Djakarta/Indonesia; United Nations in New York including as the Alternative Representative on the UN Security Council; and Canadian Representative on the Contact Group negotiating the independence plan for Namibia.

She played a key role in connecting Rotary projects with communities, including a visit to Tanzania to support water initiatives in schools.

Beyond her leadership, Verona was a unifier, bringing people together at receptions and social gatherings, especially fostering strong bonds among the women of Rotary. Her grace in meetings, thoughtful questions, and ability to make everyone feel welcome made her an invaluable presence.

January 15, 2025 marked Verona's 25th anniversary of Rotary membership.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of service, connection, and quiet leadership will continue to inspire.

Our thoughts are with Verona's family during this difficult time.
Any information about a service or celebration of life will be shared once available.

A message from your fellow Rotarian Jason Boudreau
Immediate Past President &
President, Rotary Club of Vancouver Hearing Foundation

Dear fellow Rotarians,

I am reaching out as the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation has offered a unique experience for our club members to participate in.

On March 18th, from 9:00 - 11:00 am, the foundation is offering to host a small group (10-15 people) for a “mock rooms” tour at the new St. Paul’s campus, before these rooms are taken down at the end of March.

These mock rooms are the exact design and spec that will be in the new hospital and in fact, are being used by the development team and the hospital staff to ensure the finished rooms are exactly as the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff want them to be.

This is a unique and only opportunity for anyone in the club who is interested, to see and experience these state-of-the-art hospital rooms.

As we are getting closer to meeting our fundraising target for the new Hearing and Balance Centre project, I thought some of you may want to reconnect with St. Paul’s and get up-to-speed on what’s been happening on the ground there.

Please respond to Patricia at admin@rotaryvancouver.org with your interest right away, as this is on a limited and first-come, first-served basis and these blocks of time fill up VERY quickly.

Thank you all in advance for your consideration,
Jason
