President’s Announcements:
Thank you to all of you who came to today’s meeting. It is wonderful to see you all, both those in person and those attending virtually.
As a district, there has been strong financial support for the Disaster Relief Fund. The goal is that every dollar donated will go directly and quickly to those clubs helping Ukraine. It was noted that though we know the Disaster Relief Fund is ongoing, supporting whatever is the most urgent global crisis, it would be nice to know what your funds are being directed to at the time, e.g., Ukraine until April 30th.
Reminder to save the date to attend in person on Tuesday April 12th for the youth FUNdraiser auction event to be held during our normal meeting time. Friends and family most welcome. The more the merrier. Check you email for the link to access the on-line auction and start the bidding.

Special announcements and members' moments:
Christian Nielson shared that in his work to drum up pledges and donations in support of his participation in the Ride for Hearing, he has gotten a Square device to make it as easy as possible to collect money, immediately, and on the spot. An example of effectively using technology to facilitate goals and objectives.
John Bathurst extended an invitation to anyone who is interested in joining the team who adjudicate the Gladstone scholarship applications. The applications are coming in now and the team would really like to have some fresh minds to come in - fresh eyes, fresh ideas that will help to update/improve the process. Contact John if you are interested.
Program:
Jim Evans introduced speaker Allan Holender, whose topic was Ten and Zen. Below is a copy of his script which he asked to be distributed to all.
Since I wrote my book “Zentrepreneurism” twelve years ago, many people have asked me to define what a Zentrepreneur is, and why this might be the greatest time in our history to discover who and what we are. Going back to the way business used to be would mean we have learned nothing since the world took a pause. The universal truth is that we cannot survive or thrive in a world of power, corruption and greed. On a global and
personal level we need to change the way the world does business to one of purpose, honesty, and profits with integrity. The bottom line is no longer the only reason to be in business,. Because since the pandemic, businesses have shuttered, and so their bottom line has vanished. And so this may be the perfect time for the birth of an era, I’d like to call this new era, “Enlightened Capitalism”. It’s also time for you to discover who you are and what your true purpose in life is. What a wonderful time to ponder whether or not you really loved the job you lost. I believe that the fusion of one’s personal vision coupled with one’s professional mission, grounded in activism and a holistic philosophy, will hallmark the next thousand years”. And so it’s the perfect time to take a break from Netflix and design your “Ten and Zen Life Map".
"While an entrepreneur creates a business, a zentrepreneur creates a business and a life". To set out the path to becoming a Zentrepreneur is to create your "Ten And Zen Life Map".Several years ago I attended a seminar with the renowned speaker and mentor, Jim Rohn. He asked us all what we did for a living, and the responses ranged from chartered accountant to a radio broadcaster. I was the broadcaster. He then asked us what we liked to do most when we were ten years old. Everyone's face lit up as we went around the room recounting our stories. I recalled that when I was ten my father built a makeshift radio station in our den , with an amplifier and records to spin, records like a real DJ. It was there in my make believe radio station, broadcasting to my mother on a nine inch speaker in the kitchen that I found true happiness. With my Mom as my number one fan, I did indeed find my true passion-broadcasting.
Rohn's theory was just this; whatever we loved to do when we were ten years old, was what we would wind up doing at some point in our life. This would become our true passion and our greatest enjoyment. Until that time, we were just doing our jobs. That was so brilliant to me that I now call it "Ten and Zen".So here's the big "Ten and Zen" question for you now: What did you love to do when you were ten years old?. Today I invite you to revisit your life at the age of about ten years old. Your goal here is to recreate your life since then comparing the highlights with what you liked to do when you were ten. See where your ultimate purpose and your true gifts expressed even when you weren't aware of them then. Find the forks in the road of your life where you went in the wrong direction, so you can start creating your Ten and Zen Life Map from this point forward. You may find that there were certain words that you used to use, a mindset that you used to have or
actions that used to make you happy. This process may help you to find a personal alignment with something that used to be familiar to you and you somehow misplaced along the way. Find what made you happy then so you can pull it forward into your life for a more robust expression now. I encourage you to think about this as not being the worst time in your life, but the very best time in your life to re-discover your true passion and
purpose.
Take the time to answer the following questionnaire. Share it with others in your life who may be at a point of evaluating their own choices and path forward. (Take your time, but don't pause to think too much. Put down exactly th e first thing that pops into your mind.)
What were you doing at ten years old that made you happy?
Remember how you felt when you did what you loved most
when you were ten years old?
Describe that feeling: List all the emotions.
What were the highlight memories that stand out to you and
what was happening then in your life?
Where did time get lost for you?
What were the forks in the road of your life where you went
in the wrong direction?
What memories do you have of people discouraging you from
doing what made you happy? eg. parents, siblings, relatives, friends, teachers, employers.
What is your life's work now? Your job, profession, trade etc?
What about that makes you happy?
When you describe the work you do to others, how does it make
you feel?
Describe your emotions.
Describe what you would love to do right now in this moment
that would make you truly happy?
What about that would fuse your personal vision with your
professional mission?
Feel free to evoke memories of that little ten year old again and describe your feelings.
Meeting adjourned with a toast to our dreams at 10 years old.
