BULLETIN BOARD
Messages from a fellow Rotarians ....

My partner and I are Rotarians from Adelaide, South Australia. We are coming over to the Rotary International Convention in Calgary, Canada in June. We are travelling for 2 months before and after and will be in Vancouver from July 4th, leaving on the 7th.
We are wondering whether any Rotarians in your club are interested in home hosting us for 3 nights and sharing your culture with us? We are very keen to immerse ourselves in Canadian culture.
Please reach out to me if you are interested!

Dear Rotarian friends in Vancouver,

My name is Uwe Reelmann. I am a German Rotarian from Eckernförde near Kiel, north of Hamburg, and I am writing to you today with a personal request. I would like to help my granddaughter Paulina find a follow-up job in Vancouver for approximately two months to improve her English skills before she begins her studies in Germany.
Paulina has been working in Canada since August 2024. Until mid-December, she worked on an Icelandic horse farm near Kelowna, breaking in horses. Last December, she successfully sold German Christmas art for a Canadian company at the traditional Christmas market in Vancouver. She is currently traveling with a friend in Oregon and California to see a bit of the USA. Afterward, she will return to Canada. There, she will work again for approximately two months on a horse farm near Prince George, BC. She plans to return to Germany in the middle of the year, but would like to find another job for the months of June and July to conclude her stay in Canada. She would ideally like to be back in Vancouver; this city has grown on her heart.

It would be great if Paulina could find additional employment during this period with the help of the Rotary community in Vancouver, or if one of her Rotarian friends could assist her in finding a job. She would certainly be able to find accommodation herself.
As her grandfather, I would be very happy if you could help her.

I already wrote to RC Vancouver Sunrise a few weeks ago. However, this email probably didn't reach the club due to an address error. Since my request falls outside of the official Rotary exchange program, I am choosing this route of direct contact with your club. I would be very grateful if you could help Paulina.

I am currently Paulina's contact person. I can be reached by email at ureel@t-online.de or via WhatsApp at +49 177 1463729.

Sincerely yours
Uwe Reelmann

Last Meeting March 25, 2025 - Guest Speaker Michael Bailey, Superior Business Coaching

Joan Posivy, President Elect, opened the meeting, thanking everyone for attending.
Sam Shorter acted as the Secretary

 Chair’s Announcements:
  • Welcome to our members and guests. We are always grateful to see new faces -  remember guests are always welcome at our meetings!
Program:

Michael Bailey, business coach of Superior Business Coaching, delivered a presentation on productivity and business success strategies, covering key frameworks and tools to help businesses operate efficiently and achieve their goals. His presentation included the following topics:

1. L10 Meetings (Level 10 Meetings)

L10 Meetings are a structured meeting format from the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) designed to increase team accountability, problem-solving, and efficiency. These meetings typically follow a strict agenda that includes:

  • A check-in to start on a positive note.

  • A review of key business metrics to track performance.

  • Issue identification and resolution, where teams prioritize and solve business challenges.

  • Accountability tracking, ensuring tasks from previous meetings are completed.

  • A clear conclusion, with assigned action items and next steps.
These meetings aim to keep businesses focused on their most important objectives while fostering a culture of accountability and problem-solving.

2. EOS Tools (Entrepreneurial Operating System Tools)

EOS is a framework for small to mid-sized businesses to enhance leadership, structure, and growth. Michael Bailey highlighted key EOS tools that help businesses operate effectively, such as:

  • The Vision/Traction Organizer (VTO): A simple tool to clarify a company’s vision, core values, and goals.

  • The Accountability Chart: A system for defining roles and responsibilities to eliminate confusion.

  • Rocks: The highest-priority goals for a business, typically set quarterly.

  • Scorecards: A way to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure everyone stays on track.

3. Eat That Frog – Productivity & Time Management

Bailey introduced the concept from Brian Tracy’s book Eat That Frog, which emphasizes tackling the most difficult and impactful task first thing in the day. The idea is that by addressing your biggest challenge (your "frog") early, you build momentum and increase overall productivity. Key takeaways from this method include:

  • Prioritization: Identify the most important task that will yield the biggest results.

  • Avoiding procrastination: Take immediate action rather than delaying difficult tasks.

  • Time blocking: Set dedicated time to complete important tasks without distractions.

4. Business Goal Setting & Execution

Bailey discussed the importance of setting clear, measurable goals and ensuring they align with long-term business objectives. He covered strategies such as:

  • SMART Goals: Ensuring goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

  • Breaking down large goals: Dividing big goals into smaller, manageable steps for better execution.

  • Accountability systems: Using tools like EOS Scorecards and L10 Meetings to track progress and maintain focus.

  • Review and Adaptation: Regularly assessing progress and making adjustments as needed to stay on track.
