Education Without Borders: Afghan Girls’ Fight to Learn

Join the Rotary Club of Vancouver in August 2026 for a powerful presentation by Friba Rezayee, founder and Executive Director of Women Leaders of Tomorrow and one of Afghanistan’s first female Olympians.

Friba will speak about the Taliban’s ban on education for Afghan girls beyond the third and sixth grades—and the extraordinary courage of young women pursuing education despite immense risks. Since 2021, WLOT has secured more than 40 full scholarships for Afghan women and girls to attend secondary schools and universities in Canada. In 2025 alone, the organization received over 5,000 applications from students seeking the opportunity to return to school.
