Next week's meeting, Tuesday May 21, 2024, will be a speaker series event hosting Tanya Hall, President of the RC Sunshine Coast. Tanya is known for her authenticity and sincerity, she has been a member of Rotary for 19 years. From Tanya's LinkedIn: "After years of amazing Rotary programs through my youth I became a Rotarian to give back for all I received. Trouble is, when you give your heart gets so much back and then you have to give more and then you get more and so on. You can never catch up with it. Giving is the Foundation that makes our World Stronger." Isn't that the truth?
Tanya is a professional painter and decorator, and she put her talents to work in Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and back to Mexico. She helped with the renovation of a community centre in Puebla, Mexico; painted a Venezuelan refugee camp, then the local police station in Costa Rica; trained women inmates of the Belize central prison how to paint (the prison is operated by the local Rotary club and their work in improving the living conditions and providing inmates with genuine skills has dramatically reduced instances of reoffending)...all places where local budgets simply don't exist to properly maintain such buildings and premises. Next up is 60 days in Colombia - Cartegena (Happy Heart Foundation). Talk about People of Action!
