Tom Lancaster is the General Manager and Director of Granville Island, overseeing 42 acres of land and water where more than 350 businesses support one of the world’s leading cultural precincts. The Island employs 3,100 people, generates approximately $240 million annually in economic activity, welcomes nearly 11 million visitors, and hosts over 120 events and festivals each year.
He works closely with the three Host Nations — xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) — and the federal government to advance a just, equitable future grounded in reconciliation.
Previously, Tom held senior planning and development roles across the region, including at Metro Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, and earlier worked with the Canadian International Development Agency after nearly planting one million trees across Canada.
