Our goal was $250,000 to cover the estimated cost of construction of the Rotary Clubs of Terrace Splash Park. Fundraising for the Rotary Splash Park started in mid 2015 and the Rotary Clubs of Terrace and Rotary Club of Terrace-Skeena Valley kicked in seed capital of $55,000. Then TransCanada (Coastal Gaslink) got on board early with a $50,000 donation (spring 2016).   Fundraising stalled this winter with only a few smaller donations trickling in, then the Rotary Clubs added another $25,000 (including a $10,000 Rotary District 5040 grant) in March of this year; but we still had a large funding shortfall and construction was scheduled to start in May.  We were not sure we would be able to raise what we needed in time, so Rotary appealed to the business community in Terrace and we have been overwhelmed by the response.  In a few short months we went from a large shortfall (approx $100,000) to a surplus that Rotary can use to enhance the Splash Park IF construction costs come in on budget!  The Installation crew arrived last week and project completion is hoped for the end of June, before holiday season begins. This is even more amazing when you consider that Terrace has very little in the way of big industry unlike Prince Rupert and Kitimat.  Rotary would like to thank everyone and every business that has helped us with what we feel will be a legacy project for the community.   "We did it! " In reality- "Terrace did it."
