Presidents Message
Laura Kniffin
Dear Fellow Rotarians:
I recently returned from 6 days in Reno for the National Elks Convention (yes, not only am I a member but Larry, the husband, is also the Exalted Ruler for our lodge). A lot of hype and circumstance as there are a lot of “rituals” along with dress criteria, so glad we don’t have that. But, I did come back with some of their ideas.
These I was able to share with your Board of Directors and Committee members at our first board meeting held in July. Your Board made some wonderful decisions, especially concerning membership categories, but I will let the Membership Commit-tee share that with you all.
We are also adding a new event, I know have we gone crazy or what??? President Elect Adam Reugh has taken the bull by the horns and is organizing our first golf tournament, which he has named “Rotary Classic”. Please see Adam’s update in this issue.
On another note, we had our first Pau Hana at Fish Hoppers, thank you Sam….with wonderful attendance, I know Donna has some great pictures for you. This was a multi club function as we were joined by KC Mahoney President of the Sunrise Club and our own Assis-tant District Governor Barbara Kossow.
Next month Saturday, September 9th is another community event, we are having a Bingo Night at the Elks Lodge starting at 5, games to begin at 6 on the dot. Cost for this won-derful event is $30.00pp, which includes heavy, heavy pupus and 4 playing cards. Cash bar. Joining us will be the VFW Auxiliary and profits will be split 3 ways…..this is not a fundraiser it is another “fun raiser” open to all friends and family alike, with green bananas to be won.
As if that isn’t enough we are bringing back………the Pennies for Polio jar. Look for it at the door each week - this is a great way to get rid of your change (and any stray dollar bills!). Let’s see how much we can raise for polio this year.
