Club Service Committee
Club Service

Kona Mauka Rotary Club is a vibrant club that was chartered in 1967. Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club.
Weekly meetings
- Dynamic speakers are scheduled each week.
- Instead of scheduling a speaker, Board meetings have been moved to the first Tuesday. This is a good way to involve all the members in the running of the club.
Communication and PR
Kona Mauka Rotary held a 3 year Strategic Planning Session and realized the club could benefit from letting the community know who we are and what we are doing.
- A Public Relations committee was formed and they came up with a plan to strengthen our public image.
- The website was updated with current logos and club information. The speakers are listed and the newsletter is posted on the site. This is now a club website that members and visitors can use as a resource for current information.
- Facebook page was rejuvenated. Postings are done several times a week. They include information on speakers, club projects, Rotary International information, club members who have been recognized with an award, off-site meetings, and day-to-day fun stuff that goes on in the club.
- We submit a speaker announcement to the newspaper each week.
- The club submits a press release announcing donations that have been made in support of various community programs.
- A monthly newsletter is an excellent communication tool. It gets sent to all members and many in the community.
Host fun Social Events
In order to continue to strengthen club fellowship and camaraderie, we schedule several fun activities together throughout the year:
- Club social at Fish Hopper Restaurant (multi-club)
- Wine tour at Volcano Winery, which was followed by a BBQ lunch (5 Rotary clubs, 40 participants).
- Christmas party at a member's home
- Tree planting party at a member's home (to fulfill Rotary International President Ian Risely's request for each of the 1.2 million Rotarians across the globe to plant a tree this year)
- Bingo Night and various Aloha parties throughout the year
Raise funds
- Our signature fundraiser is the Valentine Wine Tasting, which is held each year in February. This is a fun social event that many community members look forward to each year. Exclusive wines, delicious food, sumptuous desserts, exquisite silent auction, dynamic live auction, live music and dancing are enjoyed by all. Funds go towards scholarships and community projects, both local and global.
- Spaghetti Dinner that will directly benefit Kahakai Elementary School
