Community Service
The Rotary Club of Kapaa makes many contributions to our local community throughout the year. Over the past year, the Community Service committee:
- Supported Hale Ho`omalu with donations of food and also participated in the Christmas gift program
- Refurbished the floors in the Boys and Girls Club clubhouse
- Donated dictionaries to 5th graders at Kapaa Elementary School
- Sponsor of the Tri Kauai Triathlon to promote youth fitness and sports groups
- Assisted in water distribution, traffic control, etc. at an April triathlo
- Participating in the Lifesaving Tube Project, spearheaded by the Hanalei Rotary, by donating 12 tubes to east side beaches
- Participated in Make A Difference Day on October 23 with the Friends of Lydgate Park by helping with beach cleanup, pruning trees and sealing the playground equipment with linseed oil
- Worked with Friends of Lydgate Park on numerous other projects on Rotary Work Day and Earth Day. We helped paint and do carpentry repairs. Also installed a new swing set and provided four tents.
- Co-sponsor of the Kauai Jazz Festival
- Working with the mayor's office to build shelters over the bus stops in front of the Kapaa Neighborhood Center and roundabout
- Painted the dugouts and PA booth at the Kapaa Little League field
- Donated to the Kapaa Little League for baseball equipment
- Donated to the Salvation Army soup kitchen
- Donated to Puuaui Canoe Club for their Youth Paddling program to purchase paddles
- Funded the radio ad campaign promoting our Community Services and membership
- Volunteered for the Kauai Food bank Drive in April
- Provided volunteers for the Holiday Food and Fund Drive in November of last year.
- Provided volunteers for the Malama Pono Paradise Ride Rest Stop
- Donated to island-wide Kauaibots and Island School IBOTS
