Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Aloha RoCKS Members,

There are about 55 million people worldwide living with dementia, the vast majority suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. There is no treatment to cure Alzheimer’s. In advanced stages, severe loss of brain function can cause dehydration, malnutrition or infection. These complications can result in death. Alzheimer’s not only erodes the quality of life for countless seniors, but it also places a tremendous burden on families and friends who care for these individuals and must witness their intolerable decline. Our greatest hope to end this terrible disease is to support the ongoing research to find a cure. The Alzheimer’s Associate has led the way in advocating for Alzheimer’s research and also funding much of the research themselves.

We can all do our part by joining the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s on November 4, 2023, at Magic Island. The Rotary Club of Kahala Sunrise (RoCKS) has created a team to support the walk. Please join our team by registering at: http://act.alz.org/goto/RotaryClubKahalaSunrise. Once you register, you will be given your own page to record your donation and to solicit other donations. Your donation and those you solicit will count toward your personal fundraising goal as well as the club’s, You may also contribute on the team page, but it won’t count toward your personal goal. Those raising at least $100 will receive an Alzheimer’s Walk t-shirt. If you reach raise $100 by October 23rd, your t-shirt will be available on Walk Day. There is no minimum contribution amount.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a fun event. Pre-race festivities start at 7:30 AM, there’s a short program beginning at 8:30, and the actual walk will start at 9:00. Please wear you club t-shirt and join us. We’ll walk as a group.
