RoCKS will be volunteering to do some gardening at the Honolulu Zoo Children’s Discovery Forest.

Volunteers should come dressed in clothes that can get dirty and bring their favorite sunscreen or hat for sun protection.  After the event volunteers are free to enjoy the zoo.

We will meet by gate 6, located off Monsarrat Ave across from the Waikiki Shell Parking Lot shortly before 9 am.  More details as we approach the event.

About the Honolulu Zoo Children’s Discovery Forest

The Discovery Forest is designed to represent natural systems, creating a scene of Hawai‘i before the arrival of humans and demonstrating culturally significant plant and tree species that once grew near traditional shoreline villages of O‘ahu. This replication of coastal ecosystems is providing a habitat for Hawaiian plants, birds, and invertebrates, while reconnecting urban visitors with the Hawai‘ian forest. The project is benefiting an estimated 700,000 visitors per year to the zoo.
