Dr. Chris Klem (Surgeon) and Julie Gamboa (RN) will discuss the Aloha Medical Mission. 

Christopher Klem is a Head and Neck Surgeon at Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, specializing in treating cancers of the head and neck region.  Before working at Queen's, Chris served 26 years on active duty in the US Army, retiring as a Colonel.  He currently serves as the Vice President for Overseas Missions on the Board of Aloha Medical Mission (AMM).  Chris began doing overseas surgical missions during his residency in 2003 and is now a mission leader for the annual AMM mission to Bacolod City in the Philippines. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Hawaii and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. 

Julie Gamboa is a critical care nurse based in Honolulu.  She has worked at multiple medical centers in Hawaii, including Queen's, Wahiawa General, and Kapiolani Medical Center as an ICU nurse, floor nurse, and crisis nurse on the Rapid Response Team.  During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Julie voluntarily worked in COVID "hotspots" in New York City and Los Angeles.  Julie began volunteering on overseas surgical missions in 2010 and has worked in numerous countries around the world.  She currently serves as the Overseas Mission Coordinator for Aloha Medical Mission.  Julie is a Clinical Instructor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing.
