Presentation - “What Will Become of Hong Kong and Taiwan as China Advances?”

Hong Jiang, Associate Professor of Geography at University of Hawaii at Manoa, is a human geographer with a focus on China. Her past research explored human-environmental issues in China, and currently, she studies tea and culture in imperial China and contemporary Taiwan. On July 23, she will share her observations about the current situation in Hong Kong as the Chinese government tightens its grip on the territory with the new security law (announced on June 30, 2020). She will also discuss the implications of China’s move for Taiwan.
