Rainbow Pride/High Flyer

The event is to attend award assemblies at Hilo Union Elementary School on March 12 & March 13.  RC Hilo Bay has donated $200 to Hilo Union Elementary School to support literacy.  The school uses the money to purchase books to give to quarterly award recipients.  There are two awards: 1) the Rainbow Pride award recognizes students who consistently demonstrate attainment of five or six General Learner Outcomes; 2) the High Flyer award recognizes students who show great improvement toward attainment of the General Learner Outcomes.  The General Learner Outcomes include self-directed reading, contributing to the community, thinking in a complex manner, producing quality work, communicating effectively, and using technology in an effective and ethical manner-- quite ambitious goals for elementary school children!
