The Honolulu Academy of Arts is home to one of the most extensive collections of Ukiyo-e art thanks to collection of Richard Lane. Lane was a leading figure in the field of ukiyo-e research and his collection of 11,000 woodblock-printed books, manuscripts and Japanese, Korean and Chinese paintings.
Join us as Bob Huey takes us on a walk through time to the Edo period. He'll tell us how the Lane Collection was acquired, how the Honolulu Museum of Art is handling and analyzing each piece and what the faculty and students at the University of Hawaii are doing with it.
It's going to be fascinating.
