Service Above Self and One Profits Most Who Serves Best, Rotary’s official mottoes, can be traced back to the early days of the organization. Rotary is here to help.
During this unprecedented time of COVID-19, the following are just a few of the resources that are available in Central Oregon to assist the families and businesses in our community:
Be Safe, Be Well
Rotary Club of Bend

The Rotary Club of Bend is an active part of Rotary International, an organization with more than 1.2 million members in thirty-three thousand clubs around the world. Since 1905, Rotary has brought together business and professional leaders that want to provide humanitarian service and advance goodwill and peace.

The Rotary Club of Bend engages its members with fun socials, provocative programs and opportunities to change lives. Through volunteerism and charitable giving, our members serve locally, throughout the United States and in communities around the world.

Internationally, the strength of over 1.2 million Rotary members is leveraged to respond to national and international catastrophes to provide basic life needs to those suffering from events like the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake in 2004, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017. International services led by members of the Rotary Club of Bend have included providing Shelter Box units and clean water systems to disaster victims, a water project in Condega, Nicaragua, remodeling of a school kitchen and providing wheelchairs in Lithuania. Our current international service program in Ethiopia supports, with both financial and direct, in-country member participation, the establishment of a long-term program providing education, medical and other resources to assist local healthcare providers in mitigating neural tube defects (hydrocephalous and spina bifida).

Rotary Club of Bend members are currently supporting the construction of new facilities at Bend’s Bethlehem Inn and serving meals to its residents. Club members also support and participate in A Gift of Literacy, providing every first-grader in Bend public schools an enriching six-month literacy program. Members have also directly participated in presenting the Choices program to at-risk high school students and provided both financial and hands-on support to construct a greenhouse at the Central Oregon Veterans Ranch, a 19-acre working farm in a rustic setting that promotes the healing of combat trauma.

From polio eradication to clean water and shelter, international youth student exchange, youth leadership camp and college scholarships, the Rotary Club of Bend and Rotary International provide opportunities for business and professional leaders that want to provide humanitarian service and advance goodwill, peace around the world and to enjoy the friendship of those who want to serve.

Rotary is the most financially sound, largest and most powerful networking service organization whose flag is recognized in more countries that any other flag in the world. Every minute of every day Rotary feeds someone, houses someone, vaccinates someone, comforts someone and heals someone.

Come join us!

The rotary Foundation helps us reach beyond ourselves to Serve others.
The Rotary Foundation gives us all the opportunity to reach beyond ourselves to serve others in truly significant ways.  The Rotary Foundation works to close the gap between those much less fortunate than the rest of us, working to provide clean water and sanitation, healthy mothers and children, prevent disease like Polio, spur economic development, fund literacy and education, and ultimately create world peace.  Each act of service brings us one step closer to a more peaceful world. Whether you personally touch someone’s life during a service project or you a give some of your treasure to The Rotary Foundation, Rotary is diligently focusing on these six areas of focus, year over year, community by community, providing life-saving miracles.
If you pledge $200 per year to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation you enable both our local club, our District, and the Global Fund to grow and provide sustaining funds to leverage this important work.  Service work in our local schools for Literacy, service work overseas like our disease prevention work in Ethiopia, are all leveraged two to four times over because of your gift.  This month, won’t you pledge $17 per month, or $50 a quarter to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund?
Please contact your Club Rotary Foundation Chairperson, Cindi O’Neil to set up your gift this November.  She is there to help you.  Assistance at 541-480-8848 or coneil@solairehomebuilders.com.
This Ethiopian woman is hauling an eight-foot wide bundle of eucalyptus wood to town to sell for charcoal production.  She walks up Mount Entoto, 704 feet, multiple times a day to earn a living. Three Rotarians from our Club traveled there last year on a Rotary-funded Global Grant focusing on a Maternal and Child Health project. Please give generously to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation.  The need is great.
What is Rotary?
What is Rotary?  Rotary is a service organization dedicated to high ethical standards and to promoting service projects to enhance the lives of people in our community and around the world. The purpose of Rotary is to improve lives through educational and humanitarian programs.  We often work with people and organizations that help the less fortunate.  We have been a major mover in the world to end Polio as this has been a Rotary focus for several decades.
