Metro Rotary Community Service Project

What:  Metro Rotary support to the Hawaii Food Bank and hungry children

How:  By packing food for distribution to needy children

When:  Saturday March 7 from 8 am to Noon

Where: Hawaii Foodbank warehouse at 2611 Kilihau Street, Honolulu, HI 96819. (Mapunapuna area)

Why:

- In Hawaii, 1 in 6 keiki may not know where they will get their next meal.

- Over 54,000 keiki in Hawaii face hunger.

- Hawaii Foodbank has developed Food 4 Keiki – a group of programs that aims to provide nutritious food to improve our keiki's health and well-being.

 

Who:

- Metro Rotarians and their guests.

- Bring as much help as possible (over 16 years old).  We need at least 25 volunteers to get the assembly line going.

Note detailed instructions below on parking, clothing, etc.

Parking

Volunteers may park in any available stalls in front of the warehouse and are also welcome to find street parking. Parking space is limited so please plan to carpool. Parking is prohibited at Goodwill.

 

What to wear:
- Covered shoes are required (both heels and toes must be covered). Volunteers without covered shoes may be asked to refrain from volunteering.
- Pants/jeans.
- No sleeveless, midriff baring, skirts or low cut tops.
- Mid- thigh length shorts are acceptable.

Restrictions:
- For safety reasons, volunteers who are more than 5 months pregnant will be asked to refrain from volunteering.
- Back packs and large bulky items are discouraged.
- This activity is restricted to volunteers 16 years of age or older. 
- Cell phone use is not permitted while volunteering in the assembly line.
