18th September...our third annual event!
The athletes of Quesnel Special Olympics have been winning the hearts of our community for years , both through the way they compete in true Olympic fashion as well as the unrivalled manner in which they represent Quesnel.
So, in 2023, when their chief organizer (and Rotarian) Rick Prosk wondered out loud about us holding an event that brought Rotary and Special Olympics together, the event planners went to work - should it be a great gala event, or a fundraising spectacular? As it turns out, neither!
What Rick and his team identified was a need for some kind of event to bring everyone back together after the summer break, something with a bit more to it than "Registration"....hence, "Welcome Back!"
Our first two Welcome Back nights featured us introducing the athletes. This year, the Athletes Council said "Been there, done that...what we want is pizza and bingo!" so that's what we did!
Loads of now-familiar faces and plenty of new ones - ten new athletes registered, and everyone fired up for the competitive year ahead.
