Since 2014, we have been sponsoring Scholarship Awards to deserving recipients in each of the QFPA disciplines: 
  • Music
  • Dance
  • Speech & Drama
  • Vocal/Choral
  • Piano/Musicians
QFPA base their award nominations not on one season but on the overall body of work by a particular performer.  Unfortunately, we do not have all the names of the recipients dating back to 2014, but we acknowledge the financial assistance of the Province of British Columbia in making these scholarships possible.
 
 

2026

Every year we get to look good because of the awardees and this year is no exception.

At the Celebration of Stars event on May 2nd, Rotarian (and lifelong supporter of the arts) Sheila Pritchard presented awards to

2025

We continue to make available $500 Grade 12 Scholarships in each of the five QFPA disciplines, are awarded on the selection recommendations of QFPA, based upon the participation in the Festival of the awardee.
On behalf of our Club, Rotarian Jasmin Sczesny presented our two awards this year at the QFPA Celebration of Stars event oin 24th May.
 
In the discipline of Vocal-Choral Arts, our QFPA Scholarship awardee is...Olivia Williams!
 
In the discipline of Dance, our QFPA Scholarship awardee is...Maia Nygaard-Cook!
 
 

2024

Slight change in our funding criteria this year, specifically that we want to recognize Grade 12 graduates so that the scholarship money can get put to work sooner. Since many QFPA participants tend to retire after Grade 11 so as to focus on Grade 12, we directed QFPA to nominate participants based on their body of work and involvement, rather than focus on just the one year.
 
QFPA duly made Scholarship recommendations in two disciplines: Speech Arts and Dance. They also recommended an exception be made to our stipulation of one scholarship per discipline, as they said it was impossible for them to decide between their two most outstanding nominees for Speech Arts, twins Felicia and Kaitlin Barry...so we awarded Scholarships to them both.
 
Unfortunately, we did not get a picture of the presentation made at QFPA's Celebration of Stars, but we did scoop one of our Scholarship Awardee in Dance, Alexis Mackenzie, courtesy of her parents:
 
 
 
 
 

2023

Just the one Scholarship Awardee this year but what an extraordinarily gifted recipient.
 
In the discipline of Piane, our Scholarship Awardee was Sara Stobbe.
 
 
 

2022

All four disciplines were recognized this year:
  • Dance: Rhonna Smetaniuk
  • Piano: Andrew Nordgren
  • Speech: Felicia Barry
  • Vocal-Choral: Harrison Fillion

2021

Again impacted by the pandemic, participants were able to compete in only two disciplines, just like last year. 
 
Our two $500 Scholarship awardees came highly recommended: Myah Steeves for Vocal & Choral, Emily Nelson for Dance.
 
Myah's presentation was made during our regular Club Meeting held via Zoom on May 6th (she called in from her car!), while our QFPA liaison and President-Elect Bev Haluschak was able to get into Correlieu to personally present to Emily.

2020

This year's Festival was no more immune as anything else to the social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic - only two disciplines were able to complete. Nevertheless, we were able to make two $500 Scholarship awards: to Elledae Armstrong for Dance and Tayla Sherstan for Vocal & Choral.
 
Elledae and Tayla attended our September 3rd lunchtime meeting at the Legion (our first since March 12th) to collect their awards from our QFPA liaison, Bev Haluschak, and tell us how impactful their participation in the  Festival has been.

2019

This year's awards were presented at QFPA’s 2019 Celebration of Stars by 2018-19 President Petrie Neave and Vice-President Bev Haluschak, along with City of Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson.

2018

With the assistance of the QFPA board, we were delighted to make awards totalling $2,000 - $500 per discipline - at their awards event of 6th May.
