Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) are camp-experiences for community youth leaders. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid seminar to discuss leadership skills and to hone those skills through practice.

RYLA's Purpose
  • Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth
  • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
  • Encourage leadership of youth by youth
  • Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities

What does our club do?
We actively look to sponsor at least 2 participants from Quesnel (specifically the School District 28 catchment area) in the RYLA opportunities available in our Rotary District 5040. In 2025, in partnership with Rotary Club of Sunshine Coast, we were able to send 6 Quesnel students to RYLA South, hosted at YMCA Camp Elphinstone, on the last weekend of Spring Break - travel/transportation, registration, the whole experience - and they tell us they had a blast!

As you'll see, RYLA South is for ages 15-18 (at the time of the event). Plans are ongoing for a RYLA for 12-14, also one for 19+, so if RYLA sounds like something for which you would like to be considered, drop us a line at RotaryClubOfQuesnel@gmail.com and we'll let you know what's available.
