BILLY BARKER DAYS PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Nobody is quite certain what year we began to serve up our Pancake Breakfast, but our involvement in BC's longest-running family festival was certainly one of the mainstays of the weekend.
We generally started serving at 7am on a Saturday and 8am on a Sunday, meaning a bleary-eyed start to both days. The Saturday breakfast encouraged folks to come into town early so as to get a good spot for the parade, just ahead of the July sun blistering the blacktop of the safeway parking lot (not really...but it seemed like that after standing by one of those grills for a few hours!).
The wildfires of 2017 prevented the Billy Barkers Days taking place, and then circumstances beyond our control put paid to our Pancake Breakfast altogether, but we were happy to see other local organizations such as the Royal Canadian Legion pick up where we left off.
