World Polio Day
24th October 2013: How close are we to the global eradication of polio? THIS CLOSE, that's how close!
On this World Polio Day, we are proud to announce a donation of $1,000, contributed by members and friends of our club, to the Polio Plus Fund of The Rotary Foundation.

Quesnel Lions Seniors Housing Project
September 2013: As a result of ticket sales for the RCMP Musical Ride event co-hosted in July by our club and Quesnel Rodeo Club, a donation of $10,000 was made to Quesnel Lions Club in support of their Seniors' Housing Project.

Quesnel Climate Action - Westside Community Garden
August 2013: Having helped fund the Gazebo construction at the Community Garden by Quesnel Junior School, it only made sense to do the same for the Westside Community Garden on Lewis Drive.
Brandi Gunnarson, 2013-14 President, was front and centre for the ribbon cutting alongside Mayor Mary Sjostrom and other group involved in making the Garden a reality.

Quesnel Farmers' Market
March 2013: The Quesnel Farmers’ Market gratefully acknowledges a grant from our club for two important Market projects. A gift of $1000, made possible with the financial assistance of the Province of British Columbia’ was provided for the replacement of the two large highway signs at the north and south approaches to the city, as well as a smaller sign at the Tourist Information Centre. The new signs will be made and installed later this season.
In addition, the Market will use some of the funds to construct a portable kiosk or info desk at the Helen Dixon site, so that information on upcoming events, recipes, food policy facts, and other relevant communications can be made available to Market customers.

Grade 2 Literacy Project
March 2013: A legacy of our “Toast To India” event, October 2011, we assisted Quesnel Literacy Society with their project aimed at Grade 2 pupils, by purchasing a whole pile of age-appropriate books.
The biggest challenge? Getting our club members to put the books back in the box!

Lightning Creek Ski Club
December 2012: Our inaugural Toast to the Cariboo, an evening of local food and drink (we did have to spread the net a bit for the wine...), was dedicated to Lightning Creek Ski Club to enable the replacement and upgrade of safety equipment.

Seniors' Advocacy Service
August 2012: On behalf of Seniors Advocacy Service, Ruth Scoular accepts our cheque for $300 from President Keith to enable them to finalize the purchase of a touch-screen computer monitor.
The monitor will be used to help local seniors familiarize themselves with the technology used with DriveABLE assessments, an in-office science-based driving evaluation designed to identify at-risk drivers, regardless of age.
Also financially involved in this project was Quesnel Human Rights & Civil Liberties Association.

Quesnel Climate Action - Downtown Community Garden
August 2012: Over the space of two weekends, a small group of Rotarians helped the dedicated members of Quesnel Climate Action Group build a gazebo at the Community Garden…a welcome shelter from the elements.
Club Secretary Simon Turner is pictured presenting our donation of $2,300 used to acquire the building supplies.
Special mention to Mark Josephy for his expert and patient leadership.

DARE (Drug Awareness Resistance Education)
July 2012: Cst Krista Vrolyk receiving from Treasurer Greg Lawrence our donation of $1,000 to the Quesnel programme of DARE BC.
Cst Vrolyk has been involved in DARE since 2001 and taught over 200 children in Quesnel in 2011-12.
Cariboo Hoofbeats Assisted Activity Program Society
June 2012: We are proud to be Platinum Donors of CHAAPS as a result of being involved in several projects, the latest being the acquisition of Suzie the horse.
F.A.R.M.E.D.
May 2012: Having already provided funds towards the purchase and installation of an information kiosk by Quesnel Visitors’ Information, we were delighted to also be able to help with highway signage, located both north and south of town, promoting “North Cariboo Farm Country”.
Gold Pan Emergency Response Society
May 2012: We were proud to dedicate the net proceeds from our inaugural Rotary Pub Night to GoPHRS, the local group responsible for installing and servicing Lifeline emergency response units.

Cariboo Ski Touring
6th October 2011: Along with several other funders, including our sister club, Quesnel Sunrise 2000, we were delighted to help introduce Youth Ski School with a $5,000 donation.
Gavin Lake Forest Education
1st September 2011: 2011-12 Club President Bev Haluschak presents Mike Tudor of Gavin Lake Forest Education with funds to enable the construction of new wheelchair accessibility for their games room.
Salvation Army Food Bank
28th July 2011: 2011-12 Club Vice-President Brandi Gunnarson presents Debbie Vanderheyden of the Salvation Army with our cheque for $1,000 in support of the Food Bank.
F.A.R.M.E.D.
14th July 2011: 2011-12 Club President Bev Haluschak presented Lori Fogarty and Heloise Dixon-Warren of FARMED (Farm Agriculture Rural Marketing Eco Diversification…a-k-a North Cariboo Agricultural Marketing Association) with a cheque for $3,800 for the construction of an information kiosk.

Correlieu School Breakfast Programme
21st April 2011: 2010-11 Club President John Havens presents our cheque for $3,000 to June Pearson, Ralph Weaver, and Principal Mike Adams of Correlieu School on behalf of Quesnel Partnership for Student Nutrition.
QPSN is serving over 100 pupils a day and the donation has purchased and installed a suitable stove.

Bouchie Lake Recreation Commission Society
4th March 2010: For 28 years, Bouchie Lake Recreation Commission Society has been holding a Seniors Luncheon annually in March...and Pat Clauson, Gerry Johnston and Gloria Kolenchuk have been involved from the very first one.
In March 2010, were delighted to help by way of a donation of $1,000 along with some Rotarian servers.

Red Bluff Fire Hall
March 2010: All three firehalls in Quesnel are now equipped with Automated External Defibrillators. Quesnel Plywood and our sister club, Quesnel Sunrise 2000, funded the first two, in West Quesnel and Downtown, and we donated $2,500 to fund the third, at Red Bluff Firehall.

Barlow Creek 4-H
March 2010: The activities of 4H in Quesnel will be enhanced with the construction of a livestock grooming stand by Barlow Creek 4H. The stand will hold show animals securely but comfortably while they get treated to brushing and trimming; this also means a greater level of safety for the 4H member doing the brushing and trimming.
