La Grange Contributes Most Ever

And you'd think that would be enough to win the Tri-County Presidential Challenge.

But not quite.

The Challenge was to see which club could raise the most money PER CAPITA for the Rotary Foundation this year. Competing were Wesley Keng (Giddings Rotary president), John Eaton (Bastrop County Rotary president) and our own Chuck Mazac.

It was Chuck's sad duty to take "Winnin' Wesley" a check for $250, made out to the Rotary Foundation, since Giddings narrowly edged out La Grange to win the contest. Giddings raised $168.50 per capita; La Grange $162.61 per capita and Bastrop County $151.96.

Thanks to the challenge, among other reasons, the three clubs have raised more money for the Foundation this year than ever before. For the first time ever, La Grange contributions to the Foundation have passed the $10,000 mark this year, and Foundation chair Phil Oestrich believes we'll have even more before the Rotary year ends.
