The Rotary Club of Giddings awarded its 2014 Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) to Taylor O'Donnell of Giddings High School. The RYLA Award includes a six day residential leadership camp at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Bastrop, Texas. The Rotary Club of Giddings provides all costs and transportation for their RYLA recipients to attend camp. Taylor attended camp from June 29, 2014 to July 4, 2014. RYLA provides high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to exchange ideas, opinions, and beliefs with other students in a relaxed, retreat style setting. The campers were encouraged to try new things and explore new roles. Camp activities included river rafting, a ropes course, the RYLA Olympics, talent shows, and hikes, just to name a few. In addition, while at camp, the campers performed a community service project. The Rotary Club of Giddings is proud to recognize this outstanding young person.
