On March 28, 2013, the Rotary Club of Giddings held a peace forum for 7th and 8th grade students at Immanuel Luthern School in Giddings, Texas.  Pastor Robert Tiner lead the future humanitarians in a discussion about Peace Through Service, Service above Self and many other topics.  The focus of the forum was how a person can affect their community and the world through service and humanitarian efforts.  The forum culminated in a joint project between the students of Immanuel, the Rotary Club of Giddings and Operation Hugs to send care packages to American troops stationed in war zones.  The students of Immanuel were also given peace bracelets by the Rotary Club of Giddings to remind them of the forum and to keep Service above Self.

UPDATE (4/22/2012):

Through the students collection efforts, eight large boxes containing toiletries, food and other items unavailable to the troops were sent directly to them.  The students wrote letters and drew pictures to include in the packages to the soldiers to show their appreciation for their service.
