Over the past 10 years the mountain pine beetle has devastated many northern communities and resulted in local parks having hundreds of trees removed. In conjunction with the Peace initiative and Rotary International President Ian H.S Riseley's mission to have every Rotarian plant a tree, members from all 3 local clubs and the Rotaract club descended on Rainbow Park on June 6th to plant trees. Over 200 seedlings were planted throughout the park under the direction of the City. You can watch the full story online at CKPG
The Mayor, 3 Clubs, Rotaract and other city employees all volunteered to plant the seedlings in the park. After a quick lesson everyone grabbed a bundle of trees and headed out to plant. It took less than an hour for all of the trees to be planted. We would like to give a great big THANK YOU to the Nechako Rotary Club for organizing the event, to all of the sponsors and the media. We love hands on projects like this one that make the city we live that much more special. Great Job Everyone!
