On Monday, April 13th at 6:30 PM, we will hold an online-only club meeting where Dr. Matthew Hinsley of Austin Classical Guitar (ACG) will talk about ACG's Education Program. Since 2018, the Rotary Club of Austin University Area has sponsored the purchase of guitars for low income students who wanted to participate in the program. Dr. Matthew Hinsley is the 2020 recipient of the Margaret Perry Award for Excellence in Education. In 2019 he received the National Guild for Community Arts Education Milestone Award for more than twenty years of community service in the arts. He was named Public Citizen of the Year by the Texas Association of Social Workers, and won an Austin Under Forty Award for Arts and Culture. Dr. Hinsley is interested in discovering and implementing ways that music can lift individuals’ spirits, help overcome isolation, encourage international cultural exchange, and help young people confidently express themselves and build their unique identities. With the help of the University Rotary Club, he and his team at Austin Classical Guitar have built systems and programs now serving over 4,000 students in 60 local schools including the Juvenile Justice System and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, how their work has spread to 40 states and over 20 countries. Matt is the author of six books, including Creativity to Community: Arts Nonprofit Success One Coffee at a Time.About Rotary Club of Austin University Area:

SET UP
Web Meetings (or web conferences) differ from watching videos on line (YouTube, Facebook Live, Netflix, etc.) because our club members can interact and participate in the meeting. Thru the use of your camera and microphone on your desktop or smart device, people in the web meeting can see you (if you allow) via the camera on your desktop or smart device, and you can speak up in the meeting via the microphone on your desktop or smart device.
Our meetings will be conducted with WebEx. WebEx is free, and runs on desktops, laptops, tablets and smart phones. You can also dial in on an old school phone or cell phone if you just want to listen in on the meeting (and talk.)
Installation
We recommend installing the app on your computer, tablet or smart phone BEFORE the meeting.
