On Monday, September 28 at 6:30 PM, we will hold an online-only club meeting.  Our speaker will be Paul Harding, on our vulnerabilities to disinformation and misinformation campaigns.

In particular, Paul will discuss polarization and the emotions it causes (and the vulnerabilities that it creates), especially in an election year.  He will explore what Putin sees when he looks to the West, and what he and his regime did to Russia and its information environment, then to Ukraine and in Syria, then onto 2015 and the escalation to the core Western countries that were vulnerable, especially during the 2016 election. He will also address Russia's aims, and their “successes”, as well as the adoption of disinformation tactics by domestic actors, including people in government. Finally, he will tackle at the Covid Infodemic, and how the Chinese joined the game in 2020. Paul ends with some tips and suggestions on what we can do to fight back against disinformation.

Our meetings are now online using Zoom.
