Our speaker is Samira Farahani a former Rotary Peace Fellow who will be speaking on the program and her activities. Laraine Ladson arranged this program,
 
Samira is a community development practitioner with 16 years of experience gained by working with varied deprived communities in different countries. She learned about multidimensional development issues that have hampered livelihood issues at the local level, from her face to face interaction with community members with various cultural backgrounds and spoken language. 

Her projects targeted deprived communities and pursued participatory approaches to local development. 

Within the past 8 years she is working with non profit organizations in the United State and is responsible for designing and implementation of e-learning programs for community animators and practitioners. These programs are mainly focused on sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, youth leadership, community and civic engagement, public policy, and women’s right. 

Samira entered this line of work with a degree in journalism and a Masters degree in sustainability studies from Texas State University.

Samira is living in Round Rock, Texas and works as a full time consultant with a nonprofit organization in Washington DC.
