Club Meeting: Gretchen Nagy on Voting

Gretchen Nagy, Director of Voter Registration for Travis County, will talk about how to register to vote, and the changes to the voter registration process in Texas and Travis County in recent years.

Gretchen Nagy began her career while still attending the University of Texas—Austin in the mid-90’s.  She graduated with a BS in Communication Studies.  Most of her early experience centered around elections in Austin and various areas of Texas.  She worked with a consulting firm, Emory Young & Associates for 6 years and travelled extensively organizing phonebanks and Election Day activities in the state.  After 1992 she began working in management at  different government entities.  Gretchen served at Correspondence Manager for the Texas Lottery Commission for just over a year before going to work for County Commissioner Karen Sonleitner.  Following her 12-year tenure with the Commissioner she moved to the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority.  where she led the move from paper files to an electronic document system.  She moved to the County Clerk’s Office as the Recording Division Manager and worked to improve their electronic files.  After more than 4 years she was recruited to be Director of Voter Registration at the Travis County Tax Assessor's Office.
