Bob Garrett will speak to us on the current Texas legislative session . He is currently the Austin Bureau Chief of the Dallas Morning News. As a reporter in the Austin Bureau of The Dallas Morning News he has covered Democratic statewide candidates, the House, the state budget and Texas’ social services and health care programs. A native of Fort Worth and a fifth generation Texan he earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University. He worked for the old Dallas Times Herald and then covered politics in Kentucky, Washington, D.C., and California before returning to Texas in 2002. He was awarded the John S. Knight Fellowship from Stanford University in 1993-1994. He has won numerous awards for his journalism. He is a friend of our club and has spoken to us before.
