Polio Plus Award

Lake Brazos Rotary recieves award for raising $1,072 for Polio Plus.
Ronnie Fanning accepted an award on behalf of our club from Suresh Pahw (Past District Govenor) for our donation of $1,072 to Rotary's Polio Plus initiative. Each week for the past year we have passed the bucket and through our efforts have been able to make this contribution. It is amazing what a few loose bills and coins add up to!!
Since it's inception in 1985 the Polio Plus initiative has been one of Rotary's most successful programs. To date over 2 billion children have been immunized and polio has been eradicated from many parts of the world. Rotary is committed to the total eradication of polio and through a matching grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is working toward raising $355 million for this effort.
To date Rotary International has raised over $200 million so we are close. The interactive chart below updates as new funds are contributed and it is great that our club has been a part of this global effort.
