ROTARY CLUB OF FLATONIA ANNUAL PINTS FOR POLIO

Most people have heard of polio but few know that the disease still affects children around the world. To end polio, we must stop transmission of the virus in the only country where it remains endemic: Pakistan. We must also keep all other countries polio-free until we're certain it won't resurface. Up to 60 high-risk countries still operate large-scale immunization campaigns to protect children against polio.

The Rotary Club of Flatonia wants to be ambassadors for “End Polio Now”. To help the fight against polio, a fundraiser, Pints For Polio, was held in downtown Flatonia, on Saturday, 7 March 2020, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Rotary Club of Flatonia hosted a Pints For Polio Pub Walk Fundraiser at Wine Haus, Henry K’s, and Red Vault Bistro in Downtown Flatonia, Texas,. Pre-sale tickets were $20, and $25 at the door, included a pint glass, 3 drink tickets and a chance to win prizes. The event was sold out and was a great evening of community fellowship, raising funds for “End Polio Now”, and being a part of history.

All proceeds from the ticket sales were given to Rotary’s Polio Plus and were matched 2:1 thanks to the generous support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Over $900 was raised and it turned into over $2700 to support global polio eradication efforts.
