For this week's presentation, we will have Burnaby More Sport's Maria to discuss their efforts; this organization is one of the recipients of Heart of the Matter raffle and has been involved in work to promote healthy and active life styles with vulnerable populations in particular. Note that the start time is a bit later as Maria will only present starting at 12:30, though I'll have the Zoom room open at noon if people wanted to chat before then.
Maria's Bio: Maria Bamba has been in the Recreation field for over 20 years. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fitness Education at McGill University and focused on Fitness training and Sports conditioning for 8 years before moving onto combining her love of travel and sports becoming a Sports Supervisor on cruise ships for Royal Caribbean cruise lines for three years. When she decided to stay on land, she gained more experience working with recreation organizations focusing on children's programs as a Sports leader with Sportball, Youth and Families Director with YMCA and a Children's Activity Worker with Options Community Services Society before furthering her education earning a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management. She started as Program Coordinator for Burnaby Moresports since 2012 and is presently the Program Manager. She also works for the City of Burnaby as an auxiliary Recreation Leader in the side. She feels fortunate to work with her passion for Sports and children and loves mentoring her team to deliver sports programs that teach children and youth life skills.
