This week's meeting we will hear from Katrina from the Diamond Valley Learning cnetre.

Katrina will be bringing one of the students Jacqui with her.

The Learning Centre is right in the centre of Greensborough with many areas of support needed. It is a centre endeavouring to cater for the educational and life skills needs for teenagers who are unable to attend traditional schools, also young adults from the Diamond Valley area. Most of the students are either displaced, couch surfing or spending time in a refuge.

TheLearning Cntre needs money for student transport to assist them in getting to school, for excursions, for daily activities, for a food share type program. The nutritional needs of the students is sadly lacking. They also need help with administrative issues e.g. submission writing, incorporation etc.

Students need mentors to help on a one-to-one basis to improve literacy skills. They need more Mentors for the L2P driving program run through Nillumbik council, TAC and Vic Roads.  This will assist students to get their licence once they get their "L" plates.

Many of their students would benefit greatly with attending RYPEN through Rotary sponsorship.

RYLA is another program where 2 of their students attended last year with amazing results.

I encourage all Rotarians, friends and family members who have any interest in improving the quality of life for our less fortunate young people to come and see what we collectively or individually can  achieve.

Thank you for your anticipated support
