Stamp Exhibition - Australia 2013

Australia 2013 was a sensational stamp exhibition with tens of thousands of people coming from all over the world, and about $600 million of stamps on display from all the major collectors of the around the globe. We had the best sales ever and it took over 2 hours for us to ring up all our credit card sales. Our double stand was mostly jammed with customers and we had 10 people working and unable to keep up at times. It never stopped and I constantly had 6 or so collectors waiting to see me because no one else could help them. We took in 5 car loads of stock and sold about 20% of the volume, which gave me a bit of floor space in the downstairs part of my shop. It was the highlight of my business career as it was my original idea to hold the show and I was Vice President from the start in 2007.
There were lots of functions and plenty of eating and drinking with customers and dealer friends from around the world. We had a formal dinner with 400 people from 80 countries for the Awards Night at the exhibition at the Palladium Room in Crown Casino which was very special. To my delight I was awarded the best dealer stand at the exhibition out of the 100 stand holders from around the world. For a week Melbourne was the centre of the universe. I was really sad when it finished, and the last visitors are leaving Australia in the next few days. There were so many compliments from so many people that it made the 6 years of planning all worthwhile. We had brilliant weather for the first few days and people loved Melbourne and the World Heritage Listed venue at the Royal Melbourne Exhibition Building, where Australias first parliament met in 1901. For the first time ever, I have heard no complaints from dealers or collectors except that it as too busy , or they had to stand in queues. I like those complaints!!Thanks to the Rotarians who visited us at the show
