Members were recently invited to Diamond Valley Learning Centre for morning tea as a thank you to the Rotary Club of Greensborough for a recent donation.
The donation from the Club was supported by a matching grant from Rotary District 9790 and goes to helping provide food for VCAL students. Speaking at the event, two of the students made expressions of thanks. "A lot of the students here don't have food available because of family situations and so this donation is a great help".
Staff member Simone Inwood explained that the food program also contributes to the learning process as the students are involved in the management of the money including purchase and distribution of food. Overheard in a recent conversation "don't buy milk. DVLC provides milk so use the money for other things". (Ed. Learning fast)
While the morning tea was happening, some of our visitors had a car wash by other students involved in a fund raising activity.
The students presented a certificate of appreciation that was accepted by Youth Chair Joy Ferguson and Secretary David Ling.
