It was a great pleasure to be able to induct two new members to our club at last weeks meeting.

Welcome to Zilis Hardiman and Sara Briffa who I am sure will enjoy their journey with Rotary. I was interested to note that Zilis was especially motivated to join Rotary as a result of attending district conference two years ago. It has been said before but it is certainly true that you don’t fully appreciate Rotary until you have been to conference.  It is an enjoyable and motivating experience and I would urge all members, and especially newer members to register for next  year’s conference especially as it is so close to town at Mooney Valley race course.

Our industrious secretary George will be away for the next three weeks and Bill Carter will stand in for him over that time. Beryl Lim is also staying in town and will   to pass on any messages George receives on behalf of the club.

Our usual high standard of guest speaker was again maintained with Malcolm Hackett describing the rebuilding in the Strathallan area following the Black Saturday bushfires. It is clear to see that there is still a long was to go in the recovery process even two years after the event.

Cheers for now

Pres . Mark
