I hope everyone found last week's presentation by Tim Paul from Banksia Palliative Care interesting. I said in closing that a key focus of our club should be the local community and I can't think of a better cause to support than Tim organisation and I am looking forward to being part of fundraising activities this year to continue our support for this essential local organisation.

I was watching' Four Corners' on the ABC on Monday night on the extent of the flood tragedy in Pakistan where it is now estimated that up to 20 million people are displaced. It made me think of what wide ranging organisation Rotary . We can provide Aqua boxes and shelter boxes so essential for these poor people. I had no sooner turned off the TV than I picked up an article in 'The Rotarian' describing how the rotary club of Port Moreseby has secure a $60 million dollar US grant to provide mosquito nets to the people of Papua New Guinea as part of a program to fight Malaria in that country where 1.6 million people contract the illness every year.

Don't forget that we have our Film night on Thursday 23 September. It is a chance to raise some worthwhile funds and have a good time. The film is Wall Street 2 and it has had good review in the press . The ladies of inner wheel will provide refreshments and sandwiches . I hope each member can come and bring at least four friends as we have to have at least eighty people to make it worthwhile.
See you on the night !
Cheers Mark.
