Congratulations to all those who organized our Golf Day last Friday.  Ray Lord was true to his word and arranged near perfect weather. One of my staff, Brad, attended for the first time and commented on how well run the event was. The only Dampener for him was that he lost over half a dozen balls - by the second tee!

The golf day will be a major fund raiser for us this year and it's a credit to those involved.

Our other major fundraiser for the year will be the business breakfast which I am sure will be a great success as it was last year.  I would love to see 200 people attend so please start to mention it to friends and colleagues now.

As you know Paul Craig is our program director until June 30th and he is off to a flying start with the guest speakers for last week  being is daughter Sarah and her colleague,  Soheanh,  given a very well prepared presentation on child exploitation in Cambodia. If you have any suggestions for guest speakers please let Paul know as there are still a few dates available. The numbers were a little down at last weeks meeting with 14 members and 3 guests but there are a lot of members away on holidays just at the moment.

I had hoped to get through this year without having to review our weekly meeting arrangements as it seems to almost be an annual task. Sadly this is not to be The Golf club has informed us that that have reviewed the situation and will now require a $350 fee per week for the hire of the room on top of our food charge. It is understandable from their point of view as they can book out our room for $650 per day to normal commercial groups and are heavily subsidizing our weekly meetings. It is just a shame that they have reviewed their position less than twelve months after we returned.

We are looking at other options and there are some. Greensborough RSL cannot accommodate us on a weekly basis. I believe we should look for a venue with a lower meal cost as we have many non-eaters at the present $25 meal cost.

If anyone has any suggestions please contact me in the first instance. The board will make the final decision but at this stage I will be the one to coordinate the process.

Cheers for now

President Mark
