Mark's ReMarks 2
Well I've
survived my first week as your President and what a busy and exiting week it
has been.
On Wednesday we were treated to a very interesting talk from the person behind the badge our own Paul roast.
On Thursday
night the Bundoora Inner Wheel Club had their changeover. Our club was
represented by three of our members and District was represented by new
District Governor Allan Anderson.
The inner
wheel club ,as you know, is a small but very active group who have a
great deal
of fun whilst raising significant funds and conducting many worthwhile
projects
. Pam Bramley, the outgoing president, reported on the achievements of
the year
and incoming president Merle Maunder outlined a very active program for
the
coming year. I am sure we
will hear a lot from the inner wheel and on behalf of the club I invited
then
to involve us in any activities they are holding.
Just to top
off a great night Kerry was also lucky enough to win a raffle prize.
On Saturday
night the Diamond Valley Rotaract club held their changeover. Our hard
working
D.G Allan and his wife Dorothy were in attendance as was John Gatt our
Group 1
assistant D.G. Our club was also well represented with five of our club
members
attending. I estimate a total of 65 or 70 people in total attended. We
all had
a really great night!
It was a
very impressive and polished performance by these young people . Paul
Skinner
the outgoing president gave a very powerful report on the year that was
and
what Rotaract meant to him. Shaun Ingram the incoming president also
spoke
extremely well. Shaun is studying law and politics at Latrobe university
and if
his performance on Saturday night was any indication I believe he would
have no
difficulty pursuing a career in politics if he so desired.
On a
personal note I was very pleased to see my son David inducted as a
member of
the club.
On behalf of
the club, I also indicated to them that we would be keen to support them
in
their projects and I am sure we will be hearing from them soon .
They are a
very impressive group who clearly have a lot of fun whilst doing great
things
for our community.
We now have
plenty of wine as Kerry and David were again a raffle winners.
Unfortunately
the Leverett family are now banned from buying Raffle tickets.
