Thankyou to all members who attended our A.G.M. and special thanks to our Secretary George for ensuring all the appropriate requirements were attended to.

It was especially my pleasure to be able to formally thank and acknowledge the contributions of two former members , namely Cheryl Lee Carter  and Tony Ladgrove .

Cheryl Lee made an outstanding contribution to our club over more than a decade . She was bulletin editor  for four years and if memory serves me correctly won an award from district for her efforts. She also organized many  social and fundraising events with her customary attention to detail and professionalism. I still think the fundraising function at the Ivanhoe townhall in which Jim Stynes was special guest and the police band provided the entertainment was one of the best functions our club has organized and Cheryl Lee was instrumental in its success and of course later on she also organized on to conference.

Tony Ladgrove was also a very strong contributor to our club. Apart from being actively involved in all club activities he made a particular contribution in producing a bulletin of very high standards for many years, winning district awards for his efforts. He also produced many video and Power Point presentations for our club and for district. Tony also spent time on the board of directors .

I know that both still have many good friends in the club and hope to see them again at future functions.

Our two RYLA candidates Jordan Green and David Leverett have both now attended the RYLA conference and were collected in a state of near exhaustion on Sunday 28/11/2010. By all accounts they gained a great deal out of the week long experience and I am sure will make an interesting presentation to our club in the new year.

I also attended a meeting of Rotary club of Eltham last Thursday when their Guest speaker was  social worker Les Twentyman.  It was a very interesting presentation and I was made most welcome by the members. President Mike is very keen to have a joint meeting of our two clubs  in January before the official meetings begin. We are currently deciding on a format and venue so watch this space .

Cheers for now

President  Mark
