District 9790 Education and Literacy Projects

 

Multi Club Project: Education

 

Container of Education Equipment

 

Cost: $100 nominal Effort: Nil Time: Nil

 

Education is one of Rotary's six areas of focus.

 

For as little as $100 your Club can ship a container load of educational equipment to a project of your choice or become a partner in the project. If all of the Clubs in our District contribute a small amount we can ship $100,000 of educational equipment and improve the lives and future for many children.

How will it work?

 

June
Clubs commit to contributing around $100 to this project. As the funds will be donated to RAWCS a tax rebate is available if required.

 

September
The projects submitted by Clubs will be reviewed and one will be selected as the group project. The project wishlist will be given to DIK who will begin gathering the equipment. DIK will also obtain shipping prices for the container and confirm the size and cost.

 

March
Is Literacy Month and Clubs can either donate a small item for the container or help to pack something. Your local press release will highlight Rotary's commitment to improving literacy and that your Club is helping to ship a container with $100,000 of equipment to a developing country.

 

April
The 21 is Rotarians at Work day and one of the projects can be loading the container. This provides Clubs with another photo opportunity and press release.

 

June
The goods will be delivered and you have another opportunity for a press release.

 

It's a great return for a $100 investment!

 

You will also be making history. While all Clubs in our District may have contributed to a World project like PolioPlus, we are not aware of all Clubs in our District being partners in a local project and we doubt that this has happen in Australia. This has potential for a major media story.
