District Conference
Posted by John Hardiman
The Rotary Conference at Albury last year was indeed well done, and they raised the bar of excellence. However Rotary Club of Eltham raised that bar a few more steps higher. The highlights of the 3 days Zilis and I attended were as follows:
- The Venue in Wangaratta was superb. Great facilities, including good audio.
- This beautiful City was enhanced by the weather.(25.26.27 degrees)
- Speakers were good to unbelievable. Any of these people would warrant a 2nd listen, particularly Hugh Evans CEO of Global Poverty Project. He is the Keynote Speaker at the Rotoract Conference in September, and I would urge all to attend. Our Rotoract Club are hosting this event, and we should support them.
- The Chairman from Eltham was David McFarlane, a true Heavyweight of Chairmen.
- The Saturday function in Merriwa Park, included a nice meal, good entertainment and good fellowship.
- The farewell BBQ lunch was also at the Park.
- On the Friday Evening the 18 attendees from Greensborough enjoyed an excellent meal in our own Room.(the Sterling Room).Food, Wine, Soft Drink were combined with a presentation by each attendee, to indicate 2 people they would have as dinner guests. How entertaining this was, and contributed a new understanding and strengthened Fellowship between all of us.
To all members... You missed out on a Great Conference, Good Food, and Good Fellowship. Please come next year, and learn a little more of your Rotary Family
