On Monday night I attended my first meeting of the Diamond Valley Rotaract Club and I can tell you they are as keen as mustard! There were only nine of them there on the night and they inducted two of them on the night which I believe brings their number to about 20 - 21 members? The meeting was run more like a board meeting but quite open and lots of discussion on the things they have been doing and want to do. I was exhausted just listening to them!

There was a Rotarian from RC Eltham and RC Diamond Creek also in attendance, so I think it is important that we keep a Greensborough presence and try to attend regularly to provide advice where required WITHOUT taking over. It will be important for them NOT to take on too much and advice on what things they should and shouldn’t tackle would be useful.

I wasn’t taking notes, (because I can’t do shorthand), but on the night they presented Kerry Smithies (General Manager from Kalparrin) with their fund raising cheque for $500 and they recently held a BBQ which raised in the order of $900 I believe.

If everyone of us, each attended one of their meetings per year, I think we would learn (and appreciate) the role of the Rotaract Club a lot more.
